I have seen brass bands in our area too. Following funeral processions to the churchyard, actually seems like something from a Fellini(?) film and is a strange and odd experience.

I'm sure there will be: both formal and informal.
Last week there was a two day festa here at Aosta in the mountains, and apart from the trad bands with pipes, melodeons etc. there were also a number of wind bands wandering round the streets (possibly getting a leeetle more ragged as the day went on).... I just joined in with my bones when I happened to pass them as my instruments aren't chromatic and I couldn't play in the same key (apart from not knowing most of the melodies).
Try your local festa and be prepared to busk along..... :-)

They certainly exist the Imperia end of Liguria so should also your end. Usually in evidence at any local festivals.
Thanks everyone!

This looks promising. A database of musical bands - I've searched on my area of Liguria, but as you can see lots more bands. Looks like a wonderful resource.

Great! Thanks Cassini.
We have a very active brass/wind band in our town in Le Marche so obviously they do exist in Italy and I am sure there will be one nearer to you in Liguria. Ask around generally in your local town but also in in the theatres, comune and in the tourist offices.
