8740 Sausage!? with custard!?

Yes there it was folks, in the latest edition of Dolci magazine - Zampone with zabaglione, in a tall glass, custard topped with two slices of zampone!
Oh dear please tell me it's not true, I quite like zampone and zabaglione but not together. Has anyone eaten it ? :nah:

OK, call me crass, call me someone who can't appreciate the subtelty of local cuisine, but zampone

Shock horror! The combination sounds - and possibly tastes - awful:nah:

No problem as yet with Zampone, I've only eaten it once but I enjoyed it.
Custard should be eaten with apple crumble or similar only.
PLEASE don't mix :eeeek:

Sounds awful, however its probably polenta .

Around here in Marche they are very fond of deep fried custard balls covered in perhaps polenta to be eaten with the main meat course, tried them once, not to be repeated.

Mrs Tusk can't get enough (yes, distressingly American but hey.....) peanut butter & jelly sarnies.......I'd rather try the custard sossies, me'self!

No the naked truth is - real zabaglione! Yes I must admit deep fried custard balls seem pretty awful, almost as bad as my encounters with the dreaded sharon fruit/cachi/kaki - take your pick. Whisper it quietly but I'm not too keen on artichokes.

kaki is wonderful!! One of my favourite fruits - eat tonnes of them in Abruzzo!

I fully agree with Fanine, kaki or sharon fruit is delicious, but it has to be ripe. Otherwise, it leaves a bitter aftertaste.

The fried custard balls are fantastic, but strangely enough although all my fellow Yorkshireman friends like them no-one else does- perhaps it's a regional thing!

Fried custard is popular in other meditarranean countries as well: however, I would say that I like them as a dessert.
