8929 On first name terms with Ryanair

A friend has just booked a flight on my behalf. Instead of putting David as my first name, he's gone and put Dave instead.
Ryanair name change fee is 100 euro, but is it necessary in this case?

Maybe better to try and check directly with Ryanair

And they will of course say that you must get it changed!

I would try your luck and check in normally. I made a spelling mistake with my name once and they said it was ok and didn't make me pay any extra as they said it was obviously me. If they make you pay, you can always do this at the airport as you check in, but you may be ok....

I always give my name as Rod an abbreviation of my full name when booking with Ryanair and have never had a problem as yet. I think as long as it is obviously an abbreviation and not a nick name they will accept it.

I always book James for the men in our family - both hubby and son have James as their first names, although that is not the name they are generally know by. Means either of them could use the ticket - neat.
