8948 what a wonderfull area

We passed through the tyrol last year on our return to the uk.
Did not have much time for sightseeing, but what we saw we liked.

So we are now taking a two week break here in july.
Strange how it is so overlooked. On a caravaning forum, i was asked by a few members about Italy with regards to Towing and where to go,at least four families wanted to know about towing to southern parts of Italy, mainly puglia.

Eventually i pursuaded them to try a region that was not too far, with lake garda being the fav, although 2 families will be giving the sud tirol ago.

One family even decided to change their holiday plans,as they were looking for a place to rent in the popular british stronghold. After a decent discussion on what they liked ect ect, they decided to hook the van up and tow instead.

Really the dolomite area is such a jewel,i am surprised its not nearer the top of summer vacation sites. From may onwards the temp can be more than a match for known hot areas of Italy.

Beside mountains will always look better, offer more than any seashore can..........

Gio,

I couldn't agree with you more about what a lovely area this is. My family and I used to live in Pisa and went on two camping trips and stayed at a campground near Trento. I don't know what the area is like now (our last camping expedition there was in 1980) but we stayed in a tent campground surrounded by mountains with a lovely lake. At the time, there were few foreigners and the town of Trento itself was delightful. The one unpleasant experience we had was that several people we encountered were quite rude. Although we are American, my husband is fluent and speaks with a Pisan accent and it was pretty obvious that we would probably have been more welcome if we had spoken in English, as they mistook us for being from Tuscany.
