9030 Colomba

Does anyone know where I can get a good one in England? I wanted to get one for Easter! Thanks :)

I have been at Amato's Patisserie in London and they specialise in Italian-style cakes. They are Italian, so if they do not bake the Colomba it would surprise me; however, they will be able to tell you who does it or whether it is impossible to find one. Look at this for their address, etc:

Carluccio's is a chain of Italian cafes/ristorante/food shops who sell them. You can also buy online - Carluccio's

That link throws up other things now. Type in Colomba is the search engine on the web site. Enjoy

Another thought is that since La Dolce Vita is before Easter this year, - La Dolce Vita Event - Home then I'm sure there will be Easter goodies there, including Colomba cakes.

Wow. Thanks so much for your help. I will check them out. :) Great links!!

Thank you Sally. I appreciate it. :)

If you get to WH Smiths, have a look at the Taste Italia magazine. Somewhere in the last pages, they always have a list of dozens of delis around the country and will no doubt have one near to where you live. Your average local Italian Deli will probably charge you lot less for colomba than most other suppliers. Having said that, if as Gala suggested, Amato's (or anyone else) make their own, that's got to be worth trying.

Thanks for the info :) I do have a WHSmiths near me and I will check out the magazine. I appreciate all the replies. Wow!! I wish I had joined this place sooner :)

I've "a friend" (ahem) who has found them in TX Maxx........

I saw the Colomba in Carluccio's and it was priced at about £14.00. At the risk of sounding like Victor Meldrew.....

Blimey, that must be the most expensive Colomba in the world. (and should be sold at half price now). I was in Italy for Easter and bought a decent quality Colomba for 3.50 euros.

Yes but the ones at that price don't have the fancy packaging if you are giving it as a present.
