9104 Cheap Hotel in Rome??

Hi,
I'm going over to visit my friend who lives in Guglionesi (Campobasso) in a couple of weeks, I usually fly to Ancona (I live in Liverpool) but since Ryanair have stopped that flight I'm having to fly to Rome. She's coming to meet me at the airport and we're considering staying in Rome overnight (my flight gets in early morning so we could spend the day there and go out for dinner) I've had a look on Booking.com at some hotels but none of the cheaper ones stand out as being ok. Obviously I'm not expecting anything grand, we just want somewhere cheap but I'd prefer to stay somewhere that is recommended. Can anyone sugggest a hotel please?

This question has been raised before and here is a link to the thread - http://www.italymag.co.uk/forums/travel-holiday-advice/8678-somewhere-nice-9but-inexpensive-rome.html Have a great time!!!

Sally's right but there is a basic B&B type place just off Campo di Fiori, Hotel Pomezia via dei Chiavari 12 Tel 0039 06686 1371 try emailing hotel pomezia@openaccess.it or hotelpomezia@libero.it The neaest bus stop is Corso Vittorio Emanuele
Nice family run place and Nonna runs a cheap restaurant around the corner. Ristorante del pallaro largo del pallaro 15 closed mon.
(A good, reasonably place to eat where the Romans eat is La Carbonara in Campo di Fiori. It takes up one side of the campo. Closed Tues).

I have had the same problem with the loss of the Ancona flight from Liverpool.

I now drive to Rome the night before my flight as the flight leaves at about 11am. I have stayed at the Roma Congress ( Luxury hotels, Boutique Hotels, Business Hotels in Europe and America ) on the last 2 occasions which is just off the GRA ( junction 16 I think ). It is a 4 star hotel and I got a double room last week for 59 euros although this did not include breakfast. Parking is available right in front of the hotel. It is not in the nicest part of Rome but if you just want to get your head down for the night it is very good. It is no good howver, if you want to see the sights of Rome.

It's about a 10 minute drive to Ciampino Airport from the hotel.

I use hotelscombined.com to search for the best price. This is a search engine that searches all of the sites that find cheap hotels and will find you the cheapest rate.

This is all really helpful information, thanks a million!

Try Welcome to octopustravel.com!, we have found them consistently cheaper than other booking methods, and seem to have a good enough choice.

Don't book through an agency if possible. If you find the accommodation on an agency website, note the name and try Google or Pagine Gialle for a number you can ring direct or if on their website an e-mail address you can contact them on - Cheaper

Compare Hotel Prices from Top Hotel Reservation Sites searches all of the hotel search engines including Octupustravel, venere, hotels.com, hotelclub, late rooms etc so you should be guaranteed the cheapest price if you use it unless you do as Sally suggests and contact the hotel direct. I usually always go to the hotels own website to check on the rates anyway but I an not confident enough with the language to haggle over the rate.
