9204 Is this an Italian tradition?

While we were at the Colosseum in Rome we watched an Italian couple having their wedding photos taken outside. After the romantic usual poses under trees the bride suddenly pulled down the groom's trousers. They then posed for a few photos with her pulling the trousers down. Is this a tradition or was it just some joke of theirs?

Not heard of this before - perhaps she was just checking he was also the 'best' man?

Have seen wedding photos taken near the Colosseum and other Romans sites on many an occasion but have never witnessed the trousers down part. Suspect Alan is right!

This were the expression ,,,,,,,,using the rule of thumb comes from .

.....was the signal given 'thumbs-up' or 'thumbs-down' ?

No it's not an April fool (& when I get home I'll get my husband to post a picture he took of said couple). My children (7&9) though it was hilarious...

On a slightly similar note, i was working on the beach last June when them temps were in the mid 40's and a couple decided to come to the beach for their photos.

I had so much sympathy for the groom, wearing a full black suit it that heat :eeeek:

never heard of any of that!! none in my family at least!!!

I got married in Rome two years ago and there is no way I would have done if I'd thought this was a tradition ... sounds like just a couple having a bit of a laugh. :laughs:
