9146 A quick Hello from Newbie

Hi everyone,

I found this excellent site recently and it has helped shed light on a number of things, I found myself muttering away to myself......ah I see, that's why.....etc.

We bought some land in 2004 in Portixeddu, Sardinia, and we are building a villa on it for a holiday home now, and hopefully for a retirement home later on (6 years or so). In the meantime we are trying to learn the language, we seem to be developing our own actually, Italian with a bit of Sardo and Lanashiro mixed in.

Anyway the house is nearly finished, just got to overcome the problem with ENEL and the private driveway issue as I posted last night, and then we'll be home and dry (fingers crossed).

Thanks everyone already for the useful tips on all manner of things.

Only just seen your post welcome where in Villasimius.

Hello MuchMirto,

welcome to the forum It's a brilliant resourse for us all. Good luck with the house!

Thanks folks for the welcome.

I think we are getting somewhere with the house now, hopefully it should be finished next month when we come over.

PAS 55 - I see we islanders are in the minority on the forum, I haven't been quite as far over as Villasimius, although I believe it is beautiful down there. We had a week in Capitana in October, when we went along the coast as far as Solanas, it is lovely down there.

Barrov - You are spot on with the forum. If I had looked earlier in the building process, I could have avoided all sorts of mistakes and delays.

Thanks again for the welcome

Regards
MM

Hello,

We've been in Italy for five years this time round. Sheila and I were here in the eighties, then when back to the UK. I never adjusted back. Here with our son now since 2003 - finishes school (AISG) in June.

Jiust signed up this thing. We are all three bi-lingual and fairly integrated. We live in Genoav but hope to move to the Taro or Ceno valley soon.

I noticed some people have "equestrian" by their names. We'd be interested in knowing more about this, especially ant family with children. We have a pony we are looking to loan out for free. Our son has outgrown him and has his onw horse and is now looking at buying a polo pony.

Ciao a tutti
