Why dont you just wack it on a card at least you've got some come back if theres a problem.

Hi sally sorry can't help with the reason as to why travelex has closed or been removed from the site, used to use them a lot until they started charging me for using my debit card, however another solution is to use moneycorp they are situated just round the corner from where travelex used to be?
TTT Moneycorp Retail Currencies hope this helps ciao marco
Thank you Marco. Well I have had a wee look Marco and their rate for the Euro is very very low today, unfortunately

Wish I had ordered a day or two ago and collected it from another London Airport.
1.21 today cannot see it getting any better soon.

any Brit's with a holiday home in Italy should either have an Italian account (if doing a lot of D/D's etc.) OR look at the many threads of good advice on here and get a nationwide card or maybe something like Currency Card - Caxton FX travel cards - Euro - Dollar - the best rates guaranteed. Cards with decent exchange rates are much more convenient for both store purchases and for cash withdrawls from ATMs.

That new(ish) caxton card shows its rates by comparison with places like travelex here:

euro conversion - currencies exchange - euro rates - Caxton FX

The Nationwide give a good rate with no charges on their debit card used at an ATM abroad.
According to the one Marco gave - 1.1965 Travelex - 1.2 something. When I last bought online from Travelex a few months ago - 1.4 something. Scary
Sadly the pound has taken a dive over the last few months and those of us making significant payments to builders are particularly hit. 15% is bad enough when it's on a restaurant bill but when it's on a house purchase or renovation - ouch!

The UK papers have had articles in the last week about how much extra holidays are going to cost - has anyone in Italy noticed that business is falling off form Brits because of the exchange rate (& of course the US is still cheap for us)
