Its the first Ancona turning not the airport one as you come from the south. Not sure of great places to stay round there but this might be useful info if its true and you can go on Saturday -
'There are strong rumours that this Saturday 19 April, Ikea will have a one day 21% off everything sale to celebrate its 21st birthday. Ikea sales are very rare and a store-wide one would be exceptional. Thus, if it's true, it’s the perfect time to stock up on the usual suspects from the ubiquitous Swedish furnisher. '

No idea if its also a rumour in Italy.
We are heading up to Ikea from Abruzzo and were hoping someone might know of a handy place to stay the night near the Ikea store in Ancona? Is the store near the motorway or is it in the city centre? Even if there is somehwere to stay as we head back down the coast having done the shopping? It doesn't need to be right next to Ikea, just en route to or from.
Thanks
if i were you,i would stay at somewhere like Sirolo at the coast, just 10/15 mins from Ancona Sud where you exit to go to Ikea which is sited on a dismal industrial commercial estate no hotels (nobody would want to stay there) sirolo even out of season will have some small hotel or b&b or agriturismo open and it's lovely there and so near your destination. If you feel in a city mood there are plenty of places in Ancona itself (still only ten minutes from IKEA.)

Just a thought Tessa, but how much stuff are you planning on buying? It may not be a good idea to park a car full of goodies over night! We have flown into Ancona and then driven down and its only about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away.
If you want to combine it with an overnight stay I would suggest the over night stay before filling the car up - at least then you wil be free to park up for a stroll etc and lets face it after a mommoth shop you will probably just want to get home!

Just south of the Ancona Sud exit, following the signs to the Carrefore (?) store, there are two or three hotels right on the main road. I do not recall the names but I do recall they came up for me before when doing web searches for hotels in Ancona. This is the same exit for IKEA and 5 minutes away.

Hi,
I hope this reply does not come too late! The Ikea in Ancona is right next to the Ancona Sud exit - you can't miss it.
As for places to stay, I would also recommend somewhere in Sirolo, there are plenty of B&B's to choose from. We fell in love with the area few years back and ended up buying a property... but we went for a new build instead of a renovation project as it'll be used as a holiday home for the time being.
Anyway, I can recommend the B&B where we stayed - have a look at their website on: Hotel Conero hotel Riviera del Conero alberghi Numana
Happy shopping!
