9363 We did it (got married in Venice that is!)

We had the most amazing day! Just 20 of our close friends and family, a civil ceremony at the Pallazo Cavalli, pizza lunch and a great meal in the evening at La Caravella restaurant. Everything was perfect, even the weather which was forecast for heavy rain was clear and sunny in the morning, it only clouded over after lunch and started to rain a bit in the afternoon.

Venice is a beautiful city and we are already plannng to go back for our first anniversary to spend a bit more time exploring as it was a little hectic on this visit! Thanks to you for the help you gave me planning and I would recommend an Italian wedding to anyone.

Many many congratulations Bev (& Barrie!)

Now we have at least two things in common: photographers & got hitched in Italia :) Hell, you'll be moving out here soon!!

Congratulations to Bev and partner.

Venice is indeed a magical place. Somewhere ideally I would love to visit every year.
I know there are other members on here who have also married in Venice.
What a wonderful idea to go back on your anniversary next year, such a romantic gesture.

I'd love to, I loved everything about it! You are both so lucky

Congratulations, Me and my wife were married in Florence ( Palazzo Vecchio) May last year, just coming upto our first anniversary. Like yourselves we had a small party of close family and friends (36) in total and it made for a truely memorable day. People are still talking about it now and every time we see one of our photos it makes us think that getting married in Italy was the best thing we could have done, hope you will feel the same

So glad you had a good time Bev. I wouldn't get married anywhere else! Where did you put your guests up in the end? Any new top tips? Did Matteo Maida marry you? I think he does most of the weddings there - a charming man.
We've made a vow to visit Venice at least once a year for the rest of our lives, much better than all that obeying nonsense..

Congratulations and best wishes! A magic day to remember.

Most of our guests stayed with us at the Al Ponte Mocenigo which was fantastic and a couple with children stayed on the Lido, it was perfect! We were married by a lady called Elizabeth, I didn't actually meet Matteo although I did ask as he was so helpful. We are already planning to go back for our first anniversary (we had so little time to actually look round unfortunately!)

Absolutely brilliant! - Well done and Congratulations. We were married in Rome and I would recommend anyone to get married in Italy - I hope your successful story will give other people confidence that it can be done. If there's anyone reading this who's thinking about it but not sure - don't be put off by stories of red tape and rip-offs! There are such beautiful places to get married in Italy and it does make everyone (especially the bride and groom!) remember the day with huge pleasure.
