9376 Alice options

Looks like our Telecom Italia phone line is about to arrive. The plan is to use it mainly to access the internet and for some local calls.

Is Alice "Tutto Incluso" the best option for us (we want to stay with TI at least for the first year or so)?.

Is it right we have to pay for the landline rental (canone) and to rent a modem and a monthly charge for using the internet? Can anyone tell us what the whole package currently costs?

Sorry, if this has been asked a million times before... First time for us...

Can't tell you about the charges as because they are inevitable I just pay them, or rather my wife does. However our installation was pain free and I think 150 euros and we opted for Alice broadband and the rather nice modem gives you wi-fi and when ours failed we were given a new one by Alice via a local agent we are not near enough to the exchange for eye-watering speeds but it is very nice thank you.
Our pal Roberto helped with the Italian bits of the installation - very smooth.
Sorry I don't have a horror story!

Are you going for broadband? If so double check the contract, as we ordered Alice flat, and then a year later got a bill for broadband on demand ( 2000E), we told them to put it were the sun dont shine.......we have Tele2 now, faster and cheaper ......

We have a TI landline which gives us dial up as we cannot get broadband in our area. We pay 24.28 euros every 2 months for the line + 20 euros every 2 months for teleconomy internet which gives us unlimited access via dial up. IVA on top. Haven't you got a modem in your laptop/pc?

I'm interested in getting a good deal to call Uk landlines and mobiles from this landline. Can anyone help with this?

I have posted details of [url=http://www.elephanttalk.com]Elephanttalk[/url] on this forum a few weeks ago. Details are given in English on the site too. We dial 10085 and then the International number we want, Land or Mobile and have found nothing cheaper. We have broadband at last thanks to facing the right mountain so it may be worth asking around to see if there are such wireless systems in your area. Ours is supplied by Ariadsl based in Foligno.

Thanks Noble. I have checked ou the site and it goes to Italian for the important bits but it seems that to call abroad you need to register (though that part of the site is down now) and its done on a call by call basis. Do you know the costs?
Unfortunately there is no broadband in this area. I have asked around and may even take up a friend's suggestion and arrange to see the mayor to discuss this.

We pay every 2 months as follows:

Alice 7 Mega (broadband) €33.25
Linea telefonica abitazione (line rental) €24.28

in addition we choose to have:
Modem Wi Fi Alice €6.58
Tutto 4 Star €4.92

All incur a 20% IVA charge
