9424 Warehouse Modern Art

There's a sort of suburb of Teramo just past the new shopping centre where they have just opened.... well last Saturday ... the 19th April... this new modern art centre

its got a pretty good website too ... have not yet been there... but it looks interesting and the web site itself is interesting enough... showing something which many of us that live here might not appreciate .... that alongside the traditions there is a vibrant group of young and progressive people that are continuing to show that there is more to this part of Abruzzo than just Arrostoccini and vans selling roast pork sandwiches

to me anyway Teramo is a city moving always forward in a cultural sense and i think this new centre shows that ...

maybe this is also a good time to mention that they are now well into the planning of the new theatre... on the site of the old football ground... ok the date is about three years off for competition.... but its another step forward i think for the city... the present theatre doubles up as cinema and live stage... and has a very active programme... but this new one will allow for bigger productions and more seats... i believe 800 are planned ...plus a new piazza which will bring more life to that side of the city...

nice to hear of something good being built on the site f an old football ground - in the UK it's only ever supermarkets and modern housing developments that replace the old grounds.

Sadly, I haven't found too many commercial art galleries here in Abruzzo.
You know, the independent kind with a bar on one side so you can sip a coffee, then have a wander round the paintings... Maybe I'll have to open one.
So far I've only seen one such in L'Aquila and it was shut when I went. Often places called "Gallerie d'Arte" seem to be one-person ego-trips rather than real commercial ventures.
Anyone had better luck than me?
