I think it depends what you buy. It seemd to me building materials were cheaper on the whole at B&Q but we bought some lights at Castorama which we then saw at B&Q and they were the same price in euros as they were in sterling so cheaper in Italy

Always a good idea to look on the Castorama Italian website, as they do have some very good offers going at times when you look at their promotions. You should be able to compare those to the UK B&Q website as regards to prices.
On the Castarama/B&Q point of view - does anyone have a view as to which is cheaper?
Castorama is, of course, part of the same company that also owns B&Q and Screwfix in the UK. That said, the group (Kingfisher) has different products in the various countries in which it operates. I actually have bought bathroom fittings from Castorama in France as the selection here in Italy is very restricted compared to the French Castorama. This is all down to the fact that Do-It-Yourself is not a particularly popular hobby here when compared to the huge numbers of Do-It-Yourselfers in France (and the UK, of course). Just take a look at the Kingfisher operations in different countries - surprise, yes?
So, the bottom line is that the marketing people in Kingfisher keep the different parts of the group quite separate with regard to products stocked and prices charged in the different chains and countries they operate in.
PS. You can actually buy on-line on the French Castorama website (and the UK one, yes) if you can manage to find someone in France to have everything delivered to. The last time I tried - a while ago now, admittedly - they did not deliver outside of France from the on-line shop. It might possibly have changed by now though, so it's worth a look.

There you go Angie - Bricolage Fai da te Decorazione Giardinaggio Edilizia Castorama I found easily Mama Castorama in France then deleted fr and substituted it.

Thanks for the links, I think the nearest one is just off the A14 on the way to Pescara, so about an hour and 10mins.

I know it would increase significantly your journey time, but it might be of interest to know that the Castorama near Pescara airport is a bit bigger than the one at Colonnella (the one you mention). Also, there's an Obi just down the road.
The Colennella Castorama shuts for siesta and has, in my experience, eratic Sunday openings but where Castorama and Obi are in direct competition, both stores seem able to sort out staffing arrangements so they're open from 9 am to 9 pm seven days a week.
Odd, that. :nah:

On the Castarama/B&Q point of view - does anyone have a view as to which is cheaper? I still visit the B&B depot giant's when chance arrises - and my gut feel is that that are cheaper that the Italian copy, but maybe the exchange rate change has put paid to that (depending upon where you get your income of course).
