I wandered down to the exhibition in town on renewable energy and, very important as someone else has pointed out elsewhere , saving energy .
There's a thread about photovoltaics on this forum: there were plenty of companies offering PV installations, so I assume they know the score about feed-in tariffs and all the technical ramifications. They didn't appear to be offering off-grid systems. Quite a number of german companies/products, which shows the maturity of their industry as a result of feed-in tariffs.
I saw a demonstration of a mobile wood chipper which was really impressive - massive logs going in one end and chips flying out the other. Wood-burning boilers and stoves also in evidence as well as plenty of solar DHW .
There were also stalls on highly insulated timber based construction - didn't notice any ICF but didn't have too much time.
There was a book stall with plenty of relevant literature and I picked up a couple of catalogues for publishers: Catologo Generale, Editoriale Delfino and Maggioli Editore: Edilizia, Urbanistica Territorio e Ambiente. Some useful stuff for any of you argueing with your geometra or architect!
