9545 Identify a rodent?

Anyone have any idea what this is? We found it dead in a cantina recently. It was somewhere in size between a mouse & a small rat.

looks like a field mouse to me...........and you do wedding photographs as well ( grin)

Looks like Eliomys quercinus, quercino in Italian, garden dormouse in English?

Fabulous! One of the most interesting things for me about life out here is the abundance & variety of wildlife. Rarely a day goes by it seems when I'm not wondering what something is! D&R: yup, although this little creature wasn't quite the challenge that some of our weddings present ;)

I bet it'd be a lot more of a challenge if you went out and tried to find a live one! Nocturnal and quite rare. Pity really - it's a pretty little thing (or would be if alive).

I dont think that they are that rare,,,,,,my cats catch about 15 a night
