9551 Hello from Capestrano

A big hello, just joined and managed to add a few comments to various posts but working backwords as only just worked how to start a thread...hey ho! guess it all falls into place eventually. Although we have been in Abruzzo for 8 years now it's taken this long to find a need and an understanding of how these forum things work! I am pc literate but just dont seem to have time to do these sort of things just for me. We have a 3 year old girl who's great fun but demanding and we run a business (UK ltd co.) but from home here in Italy...its great fun, adore Italy, do not adore their beaurocracy but we muddle on... it is a bit muddly at times and thats why I joined up - to give and receive precious help when required.
Buona notte tutti! Maria

Welcome to the forum Maria, it is nice to hear of someone who is making a success of things out here in Abruzzo, I'm sure your years of experience will be very valuable and I look forward to hearing more.

Welcome! I'm sure you'll meet a lot of other PC illiterati here, so don't worry

Is you company anything to do with Italy, or is it just coincidence that you run a UK co. from Italy?

Thank you Neilo, I will stay in touch, I'm curious about your 'side of a hill' as we too are in one of those locations!
Maria

Hi David,
Partly a coincidence - we always planned to come over and buy a holiday home but after some spinal surgery 8 years ago I gave my job up (but in fact back then I was doing same thing I do now - jumped with all my contacts! for a more relaxed life but with an income. We set up the co same year we moved here and just found that life here was better than UK so we now only have a home in Italy and go UK side only to see family and customers.
Maria

welcome Maria
I have a wonderful house in Capestrano thanks to you an Andrew - a visit 4 years ago and that was it - many many thanks

It was a pleasure to introduce Capestrano to you all that time ago:smile: Although Italian life has it's ups and downs as you've found down! ( certainly living here is a challenge at least once a week), I must say on the whole it remains refereshing, the challenges stretch you (not a bad thing) and our mountain air has kept me asthma free for 7 years! Looking forward to many more years of life and living in Italy

Hello, my name is also Maria I am a swedish artist married to an english artist we are in the process of buing a house in Abruzzo, in Castiglione a Casauria, its very beatiful and the landscape is incredible, and yes the bureaucracy.thousands of papers..........but we are very much looking forward to it.........and it is such a contrast to being snowed in during the wintertime. AllTips are very welcome

Hello, in a months time me and Ben my english husband will come down to Abruzzo from Sweden , it feels like a big adventure ,but to change the grey or sometimes white winters to something greener and warmer feels perfekt , and all the inspiration , from the colours and the art-why didnt we do it earlier.......many regards Maria from Sweden

Welcome Maria, don't be misled, it is still possible to get snowed in , even in Abruzzo. But I don't expect it is anything like Sweden. I hope the move goes smoothly and you continue to find inspiration for your art in the glorious Abruzzo landscape.

Hi there Maria from England and Maria from Sweden.
I have a house in Picinisco which is on the other side of the Abruzzo mountains (look on Google maps and put in Picinisco - we are off the main road between Cassino and Sora).
We found our old house inOctober 2006 and moved into it on 28th May 2007 - a year tomorrow. No regrets whatsoever I can tell you. My husband is living over there now but I have a business which I am selling and need to tidy everything up over in the UK. I hope to be there permanently by the autumn, fingers crossed. I am an artist, I work in glass, and have plans to continue in Italy but not at the rate I am working in the UK. Too stressful. I intend to work "piano, piano". I go to our house every four weeks for two weeks. Am flying this Sunday. Cannot wait.
Capestrano is about 150kms from us, about 1.5 to 2 hours drive depending upon how you sightsee and any traffic. The scenery for the whole journey is fabulous, breathtaking.
If you want to see this side of Italy just shout.
