9561 religion: the final frontier?

José Gabriel Funes, the director of the Vatican Observatory, admitted the possibility of extra-terrestrial life in an interview with the Papacy’s inhouse daily L'Osservatore Romano, titled “The Alien is my Brother”.

The paper quoted him saying: "It is possible, even if until now, we have no proof. But certainly in such a big universe this hypothesis cannot be excluded."

“This is not in contradiction with our faith, because we cannot establish limits to God's creative freedom,” Funes continued. “To say it with St Francis, if we can consider some earthly creatures as 'brothers' or 'sisters', why could we not speak of a 'brother alien'? He would also belong to the creation."

I don't remember reading about the little green men in the old testament account of things, but I guess we all have to move with the times ...

the ancient greeks may well have aimed for uranus.

(sorry, but I'm now trying to shake off the various long, worthy, PC posts today ...)

they also say that St.Francis had 3 ears.......one on the left, one on the right.........and his final front ear

........I'll get my coat

Speaking as a Jedi Knight I would say the Vatican is just learning to accept that there is already a recognised 'alien' religion. May the force be with you:yes:

Ha .........A fellow Knight did you do anything special last Sunday week .???

Considering the catholic church's power and influence I suspect.........insider trading!! If such comments continue to be made........rest assured.....the proof exists!!
If not.....then obviously he is just some crazy man that will shortly be sent to some obscure monastery (? spelling) hanging off a cliff face........
p.s...I am really worried about my inability to spell in english after 4 years in italy!! And .......on a slightly different note.........if the UK government have decided that predictive text should refuse to recognise the word cool but insists on writing book......well done you!! Best policy in years!!!

The recently deceased Arthur C Clarke made a poignant statement.
He said that he wasn't sure which was more scary - finding that we are not alone in the universe or finding that we are.
I'm with him.

Does any of this mean anything? There is a real life out there, you know...

There is one alien out there according to the Vatican. A big bloke with a long grey beard. They have proof that he exists, and that they are able to communicate with him.

Now they are admitting that there may be other alien life forms out there.

I guess we will have to wait and see if they are also big bearded blokes with the ability to communicate over long distances.
