9611 expensive enel bill

I asked about this a few weeks back when our last bill arrived at E100 after just paying E90 to reconnect. People said it may have been an estimated bill. Our current bill for April/May just came in at E205!!! It seems ridiculously high. How does electricity differ from the UK with regards meter readings etc. In Ireland we had a meter which we topped up every week ourselves so I don't know for ceratin but doesn't a man come to read your meter in the UK? How does it work here in Italy then? Is it likely to be an estimate or is it just expensive. We don't use that much electric! I know there is a number to phone ENEL but Im not confident in my Italian to speak to them on the phone, although i may go to an office if I can find one. I just wanted to ask again as I'm particularly comncerned that it is twice the last bill. Anyone have any advice?:wideeyed:

Are you on one of the white digital meters, as they are remotely read. Enel did make a mistake with ours though, which was corrected on the next bill.

yeah the meter is a white digital one. I tried going through the screens but couldn't see anything that looked like a reading. Did you have to speak to them re the error or did it just rectify itself magically!

My first bill was I guess an estimate. The second they deducted the difference. This bill was so low they said to ignore it and they'd carry it to next bill. Which kind of worries me :eeeek:

But they could have done the opposite with you. If the first estimated bill was too low they would tacked it on now.

One screen will tell you the current reading, and further through you will see the reading that they should have taken for the last bill you received. The 2 should tally, if not then it should in theory be corrected the next time. We were charged 76 Euros for 2 months use in the winter months when I knew it should have been about 450, so got the corrected larger bill the next time!! They also credited us when they overcharged a few years ago.
