9536 car insurance

We need to re-insure our car in Umbria, it is currently being insured in Rome. It is a right hand ford focus about 8 years old. It has italian number plates, managed to re register it last year (what an delightful experience that was!!!!)

Can anyone recommend a cheap car insurer in the region? Many thanks Nicola D

Try typing in Italsure on a search and you will come up with a lot of threads about insurance. We have 2 cars insured with them, fully comprehensive at much better rates than we could get from an Italian insurer. ( one R/H drive on Italian plates and the other Italian )

Hi

Can also endorse Italsure, nothing but good service so far. Less than half for fully comp. compared with 3rd party only with AXA italy.

Oliver is extremely helpful.

One drawback with Italsure is that they carge for a full year. Other companies does that to, but if you leave Italy for a period, they suspend the premium. Thus one can use the paid premium in terms, making the paid sum last several years. We used our incurance only three months last year and will use it three months this year. Then we still have six months left......

Two pionts come to mind, firstly the vehicle is not insured for the remaining 9months of the year? so if it is stolen thats that? which is ok if its a banger but a newer car?
And you are hoping that the insurance company will indeed abide by this,ie giving you insurance for 4 years at 3 month periods in each.

I hope they do,but assuming they have your money, have you had a similar policy before? that actually lasted 4 years?
That would interest me.....

My car is 12 years old, worth less than the yearly insurance.

Yes, they say they will. And this agreement has been done by a friend (Italian) who has his own insurance in the same company.
And even if they don't accept more than two or three years, I still earn money. And another point; compared to renting a car, I can have one car stolen each year and still save money.
I am more happy to drive an old car, especially when it comes to parking, than an shiny new one. (or a rented one)

Hi

I saw this type of product on sale at my AXA office (we're still with them for house and contents as they were more competitive than any other). Basically you could just get insurance for the periods when you wanted to use the car.
