9636 Pimms O'clock...

As the weather is finally improving in our part of Italy, I was wondering if anyone knows where Pimms can be brought in Italy, especially Umbria / Tuscany.
I have yet to find it for sale myself.

Never understood the attraction of Pimm's, but I suppose that's because it's an English thing, which I am not.

Since it is an very English thing, I suspect you might have problems finding it in Italy. Even the online British shops are of no help since it's alcoholic.

Wiki suggests a recipe which will (supposedly) produce something similar to Pimm's: one part gin, one part red Vermouth, 1/2 to 1 part triple sec or Orange Curacao.

Good luck.

Thanks, i'll have a go at making it myself or continue to lug it back from the UK..

This is what we regard as the Italian equivalent of Pimms...Punt e Mes. The label says Carpano are the makes and it's a vermut...well you mix it with cold fizzy water and a thick slice of orange and ice if you like or you pretend it's Pimms and mix in the same way..chin chin!

Hi, I brought a bottle of Punt e Mes today (much cheaper than Pimms) and mixed it as I would Pimms, fresh mint, cucumber, fruit, lemonade etc. I was dubious, but it tasted really good, so thanks very much..

Hi John, see that you are in Umbria also, we are by Lake Trasimeno, and searched for Punt e Mes but could not find it, any suggestions, would like to try again when we are back in August.

You can even buy it in the village Sidis supermarket in Castel Rigone so perhaps the Coop at Castiglione sell it?

Hi, I picked up Punt e Mes at Iper Co-op Collestrada, but have since discovered a local bar has Pimms...
They offered to buy me some, but also said I could pick it up myself from their wholesaler called Giovanne bibita which is by Lidl in Po-Bandino...
Hope this helps....

Yes, our village bar has it too but I've never seen it in even the bigger liquor stores such as PAM. When you're next in Firenze try Pegna, just down from il Duomo as they tend to have most things most expats yearn for from home. Pimms is a very personal thing but we love it. Best made with a good slash of gin added and topped up (to my taste) with half ginger ale/half lemonade. I like mint and cucumber but used to know someone in the Middle East who actually insisted on borage leaves floating in the top, to the extent that he used to grow it in pots on his on his balcony in Bahrain!
