Might be an idea to go to two different places for a week each - how about a week on the Lido in Venice with boat trips into town in the evening when its quieter to see the sites but days on the beach as well. No need for a car that week either - then pick up a car when you leave or even get the train from Venice down to Tuscany or Marche for a week in a villa there?
Holiday rentals, Owners Direct , slow travel italy, holiday lettings and holiday lets are all worth checking out for rentals. venere.com is great for hotels and also do BnBs and apartments I think.
Avoid half term (about now next year) as flights, rentals and hotel prices wil be much higher that week.

I can recommend Cattolica. Check the website on the lovely, self catering place we stayed at, you are a very short work to the beach and a very pleasant 10 minute walk to the centre of Cattolica. Plenty to do and see in the area.

we could help organise a week in Rimini,beach night life etc, and then a week down here with us in marche which is waiting for you to discover! only 1 1/2 hours from Rimini, many cheap flights avaialble to Rimini, Forli, Ancona etc

Hi,
I would recommend Viareggio on the Tuscan coast within easy reach of Pisa airport & rail link should you wish to fly with Ryanair.
The beaches are very well maintained with a vast numbers of facilities to choose from. The hotels usually have a concession with one of the beach areas offering discounts.
In addition to the very long beach & promenade there is an area known as the Pine forest which runs parallel to the promenade but behind the hotels.
This caters for young families with eating areas and small funfair type rides and a good place to seek shade.
Bikes etc. can be hired here also which you can use along the 4 or 5 mile long promenade to adjacent towns.

Lake garda would tick all those boxes,and if that wasn't enough, then verona and venice are a shortish train journey away.

yes, the lakes. Lago Maggiore, or lago d' Orta they are a bit cheaper but lovely!
