Sassoulo, on the way to Modena is the tile centre of Italy, it's about two and a half hours drive from your place, it is stacked out with tile manufacturers that sell to the public, try contacting casaverdeitalia property in italy tuscany liguria emilia romagna - very helpful and in the area, they can give you info and names of a few places.

Hi,
I live on the other side of the valley to you in Trassilico - you can try the builders merchants in Gallicano - a new one has just opened, both are right behind the new car show rooms off the main road.
Regards

Do you mean Fratelli Puppa? is there another one along by them then?

Hi,
Yes, another has just opened, and it's got lots of things that Puppa's don't, such as Stucco plasters etc.
If you turn off the main road as if you are going to Puppa's, then turn left at the roundabout that's just off the main road and follow the road it will take you round the back of the new garages. You then have a 90 degree right bend, go round this and take the first left (Don't take the one that is actually on the corner).
It's about 50 feet on from the junction on the left. Can't think of the name at the moment, but they are quite a big chain apparently.
Let me know how you get on!

There is also Pieroni in Diecimo who have a very large supply of tiles and generally everything you need for house building.
Coming from Barga it is on your right just past Diecimo on the main road to Lucca.
Not sure about being able to bargain but it might be worth a look.

Hi,
As promised, the store is called Papeschi, ans is on via G. Bartolini around the back of the car showrooms, then off on the left.
Hops this helps.

excellent, thanks for that. a good few places to try on our next visit, much appreciated! :-)
Welcome to italy, bargaining is compulsory! Travertine tends to be a little further south but here in Pietrasanta and up the coast is a center of stone and marble production. It is not to far from where you are and maybe you could find something to suit your needs. Will send you a pm.
John.
