Hi Paul
If you are going down to Puglia, do visit Gargano. Can thoroughly recommend this campsite Camping - Village "Baia San Felice" - Vieste - Versione italiana. Its location can't be beaten. We used to used it before and with young children 25 or so years ago, then the children wouldn't travel that far and it also became very noisy (disco music, etc). However, we revisited 5 years ago and it had quietened down a lot and was wonderful - even had a swimming pool which in Italy is very unusual.
The area is very popular with Germans and is very busy in high season (August) but if you can travel early or late season it is fantastic - scenery to die for and a thick forest in the heart of Gargano from which to escape the heat if necessary.
We have a trullo near Ostuni and that love that region too, but for camping Gargano can't be beaten - the campsites have by far the best sites along the coast and with a bit of luck you can pitch your tent with views that would cost thousands in a hotel!
Happy planning!

Our kids are now grown up but we used to do a lot of camping including Italy and good luck for the future, just remember it can be very hot in August, particularly down south and could be a bit too much for the children in particular.
Hi Paul,
Camping in Italy... I could be wrong, but this could be quite a newish perspective to explore on these forums. I'm sure we'll be asking you lots of questions too. Welcome to these pages and best wishes to you too!
