9736 Peach Tree Troubles

Has anyone had really bad peach tree blight this year. Mine were great last year with very nice fruit and having just arrived in Italy my trees are very sick with no fruit and many dead brown twisted leaves altho' new leaves are appearing in small quantities. Was there a very late frost?

This is a common problem, we have the same and is caused by a fungus- "bolla del pesco". You need to get down to your consorzio and buy fungicide . If you don't treat it now it will continue to reappear in future years

Hi Elliven

I am having trouble with my white peaches, there are fruit but the leaves at the ends of the branches are crinkled and obviously sick, I think it could be peach leaf curl, I dont know if this is the same disease as the one damiano gave.

I have sprayed mine twice already with an italian systemic fungicide to try and cure it but with so much wet weather I think I am throwing my money down the drain, as there doesn't seem to be any improvement.
Although the product does state that you can use it at this time of year.

They had the same problem a couple of years ago and I used a product I brought back from the UK, it worked. But we didn't have such awful weather then.

The 'normal routine' for peach leaf curl is to spray in the early spring before the buds burst and again in the autumn after leaf fall.

Good Luck

For peach curl you need to spray Bordeaux Mixture in November. At this time you can only keep it watered and give it some fertiliser to get it through this year and then spray in November to prevent it happening next year.

Thanks everyone, I have the bordeaux mix and will certainly use it in future
