I agree - no problem. I tend to source what plumbing accessories I can in the UK and take it over. Even taken over enough hep2o pipe and fittings to replumb all the radiators and bathrooms as all the old steel pipework was corroded and needed replacing.

thanks for the info. that will make our lives much easier. looks like the UK will be a cheaper source for many of the bits and pieces we need by the sound of it. a bit of a surprise that!

Hi cocumella
I would just check on the bath taps, because I've notice that they tend to be wall mounted taps.
If you need any UK plumbing fitting, I use BES, buy online, when you spend over £40 (ex VAT) you get free delivery to Italy.

Bath taps could be a minor snaglet. Italy uses 1/2inch pipes for everything (assuming mains water pressure). English bath taps use 3/4" (19mm) assuming header tank pressure. It isn't a big deal - just make sure your Italian plumber has seen your taps, so he can leave the extra bit of room to accommodate the adaptor.

Not being funny, but why would anyone want to buy taps in the UK to take to Italy, when 95% of taps are made in Italy (infact a massive amount of tiles and sanitaryware is made in Italy) and therefore is a lot cheaper than buying the same items in the UK. The only taps i have ever come accross in England that are cheaper than Italy are from Ikea - B&Q Etc and are usually poor quality. As an example last month i bought two tall square mixer taps(£179 each), square bidet tap(£189), square built in shower valve (£299) square 20cmsx20cms shower head and arm(£199) all in Sassari, Sardinia, and all very heavy and top quality for E370.00 a bargain in my book compared to what it would of cost from the 'Bath Store' in the UK. But i do however see that it is a bit daunting and time consuming trying to find these places but still well worth the savings ! Extra hoses/ fittings etc i pick up dirt cheap of the shelf at Bricocentre and the like

Why is that when all other things are metric?

Why is plastic pipe and pushfit fittings are 15mm but copper pipe is 16mm?
Info B.E.S Ltd, Plumbing and Gas supplies, have just delvered another order F.O.C to Italy with UK fittings.

Did ask about cheap sources for sanitary ware and fittings a while ago as it peeved me to return the stuff from whence it came, but when you are based in uk and know the system it seems cheaper to bring it over. I have even bid for grohe/geberit hanging frames/cisterns on e-bay which have, I suspect, come direct from Germany and then driven down with them to Italy -crazy huh?

I know its mad to think all of these things we buy are transported all over the world to be sold to us ,only for us crazy brits to take it back to where it came from. I do see your point if you are more comfatable buying what you know in your own language thou. As for the Gerberit that is a good idea as when we spoke to our plumber he said all the pipe work and cisterns are Gerberit and it seems they love the stuff in Italy.
Yes, you will not have a problem as the BSP thread is used here on all brassware and steel pipe with adaptors available for plastic and copper.
