If your preference is for the train, do pack something to jamb the door shut so that whilst you sleep no one can get in to rob you. It happens (particularly on night trains stopping at Milan), but doesn't seem to get publicised. I noted that the author of the article wrote ...............A heavy-duty door-lock meant we should sleep soundly knowing that no one could get in and the children couldn’t get out.... But you cannot rely on this.

We are going out in 2 weeks; bought a return to Rome for £100 but you must buy on the day which is exactly 3 months before you want to travel to get a 'prems' fare!
This ticket is based on sharing a carriage with 4 others and is not suitable for older or unfit people or younger children. You should take plenty of drink food as the buffet service is v.erratic!
There are several bakers/shops near Bercy Station in Paris where you can pick up some filled rolls etc.Bercy Station itself is hopeless ....makes me long for a uk mainline station with its Costa and M&S!! We paid 10 euros for 2 coffes and a juice in anearby cafe. Not as nice as the ones we had at St Panceras!!!
You'll find the other passengers will be keen to lock you in once the folding bunks are all down!!Not ideal for claustaphobics!Or those needing to go to the loo in the night!
Try to hide conceal cc and cash while you are asleep as thefts have been known.
This is a trip suitable only for committed ( ie needing comitting) 'greens' or those totally unable to fly.Others should stick to Ryan air while its still flying!!!!
My opinion only.
We enjoyed reading this article and I e mailed it to several friends who, I know, don't enjoy flying. Quite expensive though, isn't it? And not as comfortable as you would imagine. V
