Hi
I just spoke to my bank and they would do it......takes about 10 days though ......good luck

Our bank also does the same, we can draw on the amount paid in usually within 4 working days. You just have to ask them as I know others in the same bank who have to wait 10 days as in D&R's post.

Hi Geo
Your right there are quicker bankers out there.......:laughs:

Id say use one of the currency firms - Foremost, Curencies direct, Forex etc - its quicker, and cheaper -and they'll tell you your exchange rate while your bank will probably say - we'll do it when we want, you'll get the rate applicable when we do it....

Not true Ram with the bank or ours especially, they check the rate when we go in and exchange at that rate if we agree. Maybe you need to change who you bank with!!!
we get virtually the same rate as XE com is showing on the day.

I banked a UK cheque and it took two months to clear . . .

Would you mind telling us what bank that was and whether there was any specific reason for such a long delay?

Barclays and NatWest both say that they will do the exchange when they can within a window of 3 days. Nationwide give a spot rate, but it can change before the close of business. With a currency firm you can buy the rate on the spot and then have 3 days to transfer the money - makes sense to me!
