Thank you, I have seen this thread but rather disconcertingly I had no problem checking in and managed to do so very quickly without entering my passport details and so am questioning the validity.

Never checked-in online with Ryanair but all the times I've checked in with Easyjet I've never been asked for passport number.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Sorry Olive, some people don't realise that there is a search engine here. I can understand your concern.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Perhaps you have flown with Ryanair before and the system has remembered your passport details??? Does the Boarding Pass show your passport number and a bar code??? What you need perhaps is a copy of an old one to compare.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Nice thought, but no the site did not add in the details and whilst the boarding pass has a bar code it has no passport number entered. I do not have an old boarding pass to compare it with unfortunately - but may be someone else has?
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I say again I've never before been asked with Easyjet for passport details and do not remember being asked for details with Ryanair.
I take it that you have.

Looking at my online boarding card from yesterday it has name, passport number etc on it. You have to provide passport info every time you check in on line unless it is the return portion of a booking and you checked in online on the outward portion.
Your situation seems very odd. Suggest you try to check in again and see what happens
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Hi and sorry PAS 55 I should have responded to your question.
Yes I have always been asked for the information before and even now if I try to re-visit the check in on line page there are boxes in which to enter information, which appear to be working. However, last night it would permit permit information to be entered and was happy to proceed to the allocation of a boarding pass.
As said in my early email it will not allow me to submit details and am not sure if it is beacause I checked in (after a fashion) or whether it is the same for everyone.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I guess the only thing you can do is talk to Ryanair about it either by phone or at the airport. I cant see the security people letting you through without a name on your boarding card. Good luck.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I suggest you arrive at the airport as normal and go to the check-in desk.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Thank you for the suggestions and all the replies - I guess I had come to the same conclusions as those offered but was just wondering if it had happened to anyone else.

Ringing Ryanair will cost a fortune and a lot of hassle. I suggest if the flight isn't imminent to wait and try again in a few days or alternatively you ignore the Online Boarding Pass and just turn up at the airport. Don't try to explain the situation to them there . Wait and see first what they say and take it from there.
I knew someone that had checked in online and he was unable to print his Boarding Pass at home so they reissued one for free.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
PS Still take it though just in case.

If you go to the site & log in again & go to online check-in you can ask to reprint your details.
Sometimes it doesn't print properly first time for me & I log out & in again to get the full graphics. After I have checked-in outbound it remembers my details for the inbound leg. I can email you a copy of my last printout if you want to see what it looks like.

I tried to re check in last night and this morning but will not permit me to do so, when I reprint my baording pass it still does not have any passport details only my name, boarding number and confirmation number. I only attempted to check in for the outward bound flight as I will be away for ten days.
Thanks for the suggestion though
Ryanair Help or Not

Recently I also had the same problem trying to get our boarding passes printed, the first print did not have a bar code I had not noticed this but printed a second lot just for reference, these then had a bar code.and all our details, but could not get the system to print out a return boarding card although the system said I could. they will not allow your through checkin a Stansted without the barcode and full details that match your passport , if only Ryanair put on their site what your boarding pass should look like, I gave the unbarcoded paper at checkin and had this pointed out fortunately I had both copies with me and from the discussion at checkin it seems that they have an ongoing problem with this check and go system.
Note also that they do not given priority boarding to the check and go system anymore, you have to pay since the early June.
Not sure what the answer is but certainly try to print out the passes asap rather than wait till the last few hours.
When I spoke to the Ryan girls at checkin they thought that the site always worked well for them. maybe they have a direct line????????????
all the best Lin

Yes it is now the case that you have to pay for priority boarding even if using web check-in and no luggage, as I found out when booking flights for Christmas, knew it wouldn't last! With the charge for that plus the credit card fee, the flights ended up only £7 cheaper than BA to Bologna. Still Ancona is nearer at the Italian end for us.
Problems with the website seem to be continuing today - very slow....
Having complained about Ryanair's in flight service in the past, am very happy to report some very positive experiences recently!
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I've never checked in online before. Can anyone tell me if you check in for outward + return flights at the same time? We dont have internet access in Italy so wouldn't be able to check in there for coming home.
thanks

Alma it depends when your return flight is. I think you can check in online from four days to four hours before the flight but check the website.
As for access to The Internet in Italy, there are libraries which provide cheap access. A nuisance I know. However I understand that online check-in is no longer free so why bother.

On line check in is still free, however, you are no longer automaticlly entitled to Priority Boarding! They have also raised the Debit Card handling fee - it is now the same as that for a credit card.

My other half just did an online check in as flying from Perugia to Stansted this Friday. All worked without a hitch, including printing the boarding pass. (Despite my saying don't think you can do it!!) I conclude that before doing such a thing find a pessimist to sit beside you!

Having posed the original question re the travellers details not appearing on the boarding pass I can clarify the situation. We arrived at the aiport with online check in boarding passes that did not have our details eg name and passport number. Our plan was to go to the check in desk and ask for clarification but the queue was v long and therefore went straight to the stop and search at departures. A very nice chap there checked our boarding passes and as the bar code was complete he was able to cross check our names with passports and all was in order. So all ended well ...........except at Brescia airport on our return we were asked to pay 5 euro each for priority boarding thereby learning it is no longer free. Naturally we did not pay and noticed that the priority boarding queue was considerably shorter so were not alone in our decision. Oh well we will just have to work around Ryanair again.

Ryanair states that visa electron remains free of charge. Where do you get visa electron?

I think Alma's question was perhaps rather what exactly is Visa Electron - Visa Electron - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Has anyone had the problem of not being able to access their reservation at all in order to do online check-in? It keeps telling me that the details given are not the same as those made at the time of reservation and they definitely are.

It is not user-friendly. Make sure you are using capitals where Ryanair do. Try zeros where you have used O's & vice-versa. If that doesn't work try cutting & pasting your "booking reference" or try the alternate method, i.e. booking credit-card number or "booking reference". I have always got in eventually! Sometime takes a couple of attempts though.
Good luck

It is special offer to visa electron cardholders and for a limited period only - no time scale is given. Once all visa electron cardholders are lulled into a false sense of security they will no doubt introduce charges as for other debit cards. With Ryanair, nothing is free for long!

A friend of mine recently made a reservation and it said "unconfirmed" in red and to wait for an itinerary e-mail for confirmation. It never came. He tried too to ring Ryanair on their expensive rate for clarification and couldn't get through. In the end he just booked another flight.

Thanks but I've done all that already - cut and pasted the reference number and the email address but no luck so there's obviously something up with the reservation. Hopefully it's alright when I turn up at the airport tomorrow morning.
Hi Olive. Have a look at a similar thread here - http://www.italymag.co.uk/forums/travel-talk-safety/9814-ryan-air-web-site-go-slow.html
