There is an amphitheatre just outside Capua - well worth a visit. Would possibly join you if you were ever to consider travelling Via Appia from Capua on towards Brindisi.

Excuse my ignorance but who did own Stourhead? There was a bloke called Gregorovius who did quite a bit of trolling around Lazio and you can find his account on the net. In addition the Lazio area was v popular with German painters in the 1850's and I believe some of the area around Olevano is still owned by a German artistic body.
