Just a thought, It says he has been arrested in connection with corruption issues, I cannot see anywhere that he has been charged yet, so perhaps alittle premature to assume he is guilty at this point?

True Angie In England you are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Is the same case in Italy???

Here's another link that I read a few minutes prior to reading this thread. - ANSA.it - News in English - Abruzzo governor arrested

Yeh, you're right. We should wait for the trial to take it's course.

It's like my next door neighbour says, "We should vote Berlusconi because he's never been proved guilty".

Feeling a bit cynical today...

its been quite a long running story this... and its been obvious for a while that despite all the wriggling he was going to get arrested... unlike the UK its quite o.k. here to say someone is guilty before trial... it happens all the time... even on tv... porta porta is famous for its vespa investigations and pronouncements during trials of high profile incidents... of often less than proved guilty normal people... and having experts say they must be because how else could it have happened...

turco if arraested is pretty well sure to be heavily involved... basically because magistrates here and investing prosecutors will rarely willing to tackle politicians from their own side...

the real question will be ... can he stall it all long enough so that it never arrives at a verdict....

or will he be let to dissapear without repercisons as most politicians manage because there are just too many of them involved... and those that do get arrested just know too much about what has been going on in the past... aka mastella and wife... thats all very quite now... and no one was about to trust him to keep his mouth shut if that had got to a trial

A good article from the Economist on the story:
