10009 Getting abit tired?

Hello Everyone,
After living in Italy for the last five years now I feel I have had a fair experience of life here, and you know its not Italians that are getting me annoyed but certain foreigners. I hate to say it but I feel that I am alone amongst us foreigners. I only now have Italian friends as I am sick and tired of meeting others who only let me down. Why do my reasons for living here seem so much at odds with others. Is this the same for you?
I love Italy! I love its life! its loves and its woes, but why do others seem only interested in being here to make a quick profit or to turn themselves into someone they are not?
You cant suddenly declare yourself a project manager or house designer because you brought a house here and got others to restore it! Neither can you become an expert just because you live here.
Advice is always helpful to others, but not when you are looking to make a few bucks off the back of it!
Please leave it to the professionals they may cost more but you get what you pay for!

Hi there

Well do not get dispondent it just will not be good for you! Ask yourself this, did you chose an area which has quite a high percentage of non Italians is so well it is only natural that you are going to experience this kind of behaviour. Best thing is that you are not doing what they are doing so why bother yourself?

Think of it like this 98% of what you see and hear really has absolutely nothing to do with you.

Hope that helps

I think IC that this is the way of many things here. You are a friend as long as you can help out and are an asset at the time. Then all of a sudden the phone calls stop and you never see them again. We had a couple who stayed here a few times for nothing while their house was being renovated, as they were always complaining of their tiny apartment, so we said okay, we are going on a holiday, stay at our house. Since we got back from Cambodia in 2006 we have never had any real contact with them, apart from when Enel blew a circuit in their Geothermal system. After that nothing, so I know how you feel.
With project managers, then that is another case. I have had project managers ask for me to talk directly to clients as they know little or nothing of Geothermal installations, which is fine by me. Then the client says that they ( the project Manager ) want to charge them 10% of the supply and installation cost............. that is not really on, as they have hardly any input into the whole scheme of things.
p.s. IC Haven't forgotten the other details I PM'd you about, just been a bit hectic lately!!!!

There are givers and takers the world over and for some of us (myself included), it takes longer to learn that lesson. A dog is often a far better friend...so save your kindness for the animals and let the people sort themselves out!
