Saw exactly the same thing on one of Ryanair's planes when returning to Stansted last Friday.

There's an uproar about Ryanair using the picture in their ad, but a shrug about Bossi flipping off the national anthem in the first place. :eerr:

For Ryan Air to use the verb fregarsene towards the general Italian public makes me wonder which lowlife translated their message into Italian, but I suppose it shows the general mindset of Ryan Air executives perfectly.

Well "e chi se ne frega?" ("and who gives a damn?") was a motto of the fascist movement after all.....

I'm sure you know Benito was more interested in trains Carole and as far as I know, the PNF is the only party whose reformation is explicitly banned by the Constitution of Italy.
Who knows, perhaps Ryanair now has a similar foreign policy - and is seeking to become the "New Roman Empire"? :nah:

If you get a chance, visit the Risiera di San Sabba in Trieste and you'll be surprised to learn the fascists had more sinister interests than trains.

Old news rarely surprises me Noma.

My only reason for posting on the matter of the use of the word 'fregarsene' was to highlight the fact (it seemed to me) that the fascisits were from the same mould that Signor Bossi and his Northern League like to use. The one that says, in so many words, "I don't give a d*mn what you think - I am right!". I suspect that Mr. Ryan uses that same mould too!

Good decision, but the fine, peanuts. Will they, Ryanair, listen now I wonder??? I doubt it.

Noma, how unfortunate, you have done it again, but my comment was for Carole, who I am sure with her vast experience knows very well, (as do I and many others here) the myth about "trains running on time".
We also know intentionally quoting out of context in order to misconstrue is not the done thing here, It can create poor attitude towards those doing it. :winki:

Yet again the patronizing, condescending, supercilious tone. It's now your trademark.
Yes, it is amusing to laugh about Benito making the trains run on time. But to give it context, that was your response to Carole mentioning fascists. In that context, it trivializes the horror the fascists wrought upon Italy and her people. Ho, ho they were more interested in trains, let's not mention the thousands of Jews, Roma, and other undesirables they collaborated in imprisoning and murdering.
You dismiss the fascist deathcamp Risiera di San Sabba as old news. Let's just sweep it under the rug and joke about Benito being more interested in trains, shouldn't we?:winki:

As the reply in question was made to a comment I made regarding the link about an air transport question - it WAS in context, and was accepted as such.
No one has attempted to trivialise any of the valid points you make here regarding the role of Fascism or the fascist movement in the past becuase that was not under discussion. I'm sure we all abhor what they did, and I can say that because on a personal level what they did affected several members of my husbands family. So I do speak with some knowledge of their policies and behaviour.
But the point here is that this thread was NOT discussing the fascist regime 'in toto', but just a phrase they used which I felt fitted the stance of Sig. Bossi in the debate on the Ryanair advertisement. Nothing more and nothing less!

Noma, this is a forum and I do not wish to cause friction with an unworthy opponent, so I shall leave it to others to decide who has the patronizing, condescending, supercilious tone and may only be posting in the hope of causing confrontation - which is now your well noted trademark!

Dio Mio let's lighten up here. Went to meet a train last week with our small Springer. She's 2 and has never been parted from my husband (her first love). We sat down to hear an announcement that the train was in ritardo...I then mentioned my husbands name, saying xxx's train is late Bella...to which she started to howl...astonished me and most of us waiting....this gave us all chance to talk about the appalling train service (in Italian)....much has changed in Italy since Benito ruled!

You seem unclear on the meaning of condescending- calling another member of the forum "unworthy" defines it pretty well.

I so agree with you.
But I fear that the 'hidden agenda' doesn't include such things, it would defeat the main object?
Spats in public that is...

I agree with you Carole - there is without a shadow of a doubt, a very poorly concealed 'hidden agenda' so clearly visible here.

Ah, I do so love this virtual place: the never-ending intrigue of trying to discover subtexts and spot hidden agendas, the constant curiousity about the real person behind the screen name and persona, the burning desire to know whether they've been known here before in another incarnation...
Well, actually, now that I come to think about it, I believe it would be a far more positive use of my time to go and sit on the terrace, watch the sunset, listen to the birds and have a beer.

Greedy "Btds"
Last year we travelled on an Ancona- Stansted flight. On the side of the plane, instead of the usual ' Ryanair' in equally huge letters was written " Arrivederci Alitalia" !!!! This latest row is nothing new.
