Thankyou so much for that, Sally. I checked it out, but unfortunately the flights stop end of September. same if I came home and then flew from England. Ah Well. C'est la vie!

Flying from Pescara to Marseilles you have to go via Milan. Possibly fairly expensive. You can also catch a train from Pescara to Milan, then Milan/Marseilles possibly via Nice. Have a look for trains Pescara/Marsiglia through www.trenitalia.it
You can always drive....

Yes train seems a good option but what a journey!!! I also reckon that's an expensive journey.

Jackie Onair also fly to Monaco ..... Itali to Milan as Gala suggested.

Volarweb also go to Milan from Pescara. Careful 'though if you use that as a connection, as there are three airports serving Milan.

Air/France/Alitalia fly Rome-Marseille direct, and also have several flights a day from Rome to Lyon, which is an excellent airport from which to access northern Provence quickly.
Wackier routes involving low-cost airlines would include using the Flybaboo flights from Rome to Nice, or the Myair flights from Venice to Marseille. Although it's over five hours from Pescara to Venice on the train, this is considerably quicker than the train from Milan to Marseille, and you'd be paying cheap trenitalia prices all the way.

I had a look at the prices Rome to Marseiles. The prices are horrendous.
It's just occurred to me. Ryanair again -
Ryanair - Rome to Frankfurt then Frunkfurt to Montpelier then train to Marseilles
Ryanair - Rome - Barcelona Girona then train to Marseilles
Ryanair - Pescara - Barcelona Girona then train to Marseilles - perfect

Many thanks. Will check that out!

Barcelona to Marseille is eight hours by train, whereas Pescara to Venice Mestre is five. Check out Myair!
Pescara to Rome is under four hours if you're lucky. So Flybaboo and a two and a half hour train from Nice to Marseille is still in the running.
But rather better from Rome might be Easyjet to Lyon from Rome Ciampino (Easyjet also fly to Lyon from Venice). Lyon is only 1hr 40 from Marseille on the train (once you've got the bus into Lyon from the airport, of course - but that's a problem with most airports).

Thankyou. I think the main problem I found in the very beginning was that flights have been curtailed- although originally timetabled for October those I checked are not running.

I think you'll find this Monaco is actually Munich.
I had much the same problem last year when I was on business in Marseille and thought it would be nice to tag a long weekend, as it's only a short hop from Italy. I was wrong unfortunately, my cheapest and shortest route being back to Stansted and out again!
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Yes Russ- I was concluding the same- my flight comes in from italy at stansted in the afternoon on a THursday. I may as well go home for a week and go to Marseilles later. Was just thinking it'd be nice to combine the two!

Have you checked out the Pescara - Barcelona by Ryanair and then a couple of hours by train to Marseilles, Jackie yet??? You could always spend a night in Spain if need be.

PS This is the link to Marseilles Airport which lists the airlines that go there. - French Airport : Airport south of France. Flight arrival and departure times

I think that the easiest solution is to hire a car in Pescara, drive to Marseille and return the car there.
Jackie Hi. Pity this question wasn't raised 18 months ago when Ryanair had flights Rome to Marseilles. You could fly to Charles de Gaulle from Pescara, Onair airline then take a train south. Here are some links for you -
