What ever happened to the Olympics being for amateurs?

There seem to be an awful lot of professional sports people involved nowadays!

I think that olympic football must be made up of junior squads (under 23) with a small number (3) over age players allowed. It is this way so it does not compete with the Football World Cup.

I understand that Argentina are having a fair scrap with FC Barcelona about Messi going to the olympics.
