You can also go to the Leroy Merlin branch at Bari. They tend to have a good variety of bath accessories at reasonable prices.... there are also very expensive, too.
Have a look:

I looked up "taps" in Babelfish and they give "colpetti". However when I use it in a Google search, it doesn't seem this is the right word. So please can someone tell me what it is, and better still "cheap taps" Thank you
Rubinetti they are called down here in Puglia , but I hope thats not dialect as the Pugliese sometimes mix the two in conversation, and just when we think we are learning the language, a Lazio friend tells us to stop speaking dialect so that other Italians can understand us !!!
Yes that sounds right. Using it in Google I see it is also a surname!!!

Definitely "rubinetti" (plural) Sally, in the singular "il rubinetto". Remember the French word "robinet"? Same origin.
By the way, "colpetti" is a diminutive in the plural for "colpo" (singular), which means a blow or a knock. Not quite what you were looking for, but then.... this is the danger you encounter with these types of translation tools.....:laughs:
By the way, cheap taps would be "rubinetti a buon prezzo".

I think Sally got the cure for water on the brain; a tap on the head!:laughs::laughs:

With kitchen & bathroom taps the more cutting edge, modern, up-to-the-minute design-wise, you go for the more you are at the mercy of companies that feed on the aspirations of the more-money-than-sense brigade & could easily buy something that looks sexy yet performs badly. If you can do without the latest must have then look at products by Grohe. They are quality, modern & pretty timeless. Just about every UK supplier I have dealt with knows & appreciates their products. They are not the cheapest but don't cost the earth.
Top Tip. Dont buy from the big chains like Leroy Merlin & Castorama unless you really have to. Go to the places that proper trade plumbers go to which cannot sell over priced cheap tat cos they get it thrown back at them by irate plumbers when there's a problem.

Colpetto can also be used as a way to "prod" or "poke" someone as in "dare un colpetto"
Taps

Hi Sally, the word you want is rubinetto/i, colpetto is for say "a tap on the window"
