10208 Hi

Just wanted to say hello to all you fellow Italy fans. My husband and I are in the process of buying a place in Lunigiana and would love to hear from anyone in the area. We started out thinking we wanted to buy in the Lucca area but a) found it too expensive and b) discovered the stunning scenery of Lunigiana and also c) so far this area seems to be a reasonably well kept secret. Could I be wrong? Anyway any info/advice, particularly relating to the Fivizzano area would be most welcome. Ciao

Hi Marybeth and welcome to the Forum. As you say, Lunigiana is a beautiful place, as you say; however, I would not give up entirely the idea of Lucca and surrounding areas if this is really what you want. It took us more than two years and several trips to find exactly what we wanted and keep in mind that real estate prices may be coming down slightly... not in every area, though, as there are some which keep their value better than others. Take your time, try to make a list of your priorities as things as good communications, availability of services, etc., are important. Not knowing you makes it difficult to give correct advice; however, just keep on asking questions. There are a few people in the Forum who live or have houses in Lunigiana.

You are not wrong. Lunigiana is wonderful. We came here house hunting just over 2 years ago and bought within 4 months and have never looked back. We are along the valley near Licciana so do get in touch for help and advice [/FONT]
