10226 EasyJet start FCO-LGW flights

[FONT=Trebuchet MS][SIZE=2]On 3rd November 2008 EasyJet will start flights between Rome Fiumicino and London Gatwick, and these can be booked online now. There will be two daily flights each way. From Rome:[/SIZE][/FONT]

Does this mean that EasyJet has stopped flying to LGW from Ciampino, or are these flights in addition to?

From the EasyJet site it appears that flights from FCO to LGW will replace those from Ciampino on 3rd November - though whether this is a permanent change or a summer/winter timetable switch, I don't know.

Thanks for that additional info. I wondered if Ciampino is starting to downsize in anticipation of the new airport outside of Viterbo. Or will Ciampino stay open as well once the new one is open?

Given the building of new terminal facilities at Ciampino it would be surprising if the airport downsized...... mind you this is Italy.

Wish the wretched road round Rome was a bit more predictable in terms of jounrey times, twice we've almost missed our return flight because of traffic jams despite allow hours of spare time!

we live 20 mins (on a good, very early Sunday morning) from Ciampino and our local friends are totally convinced Viterbo will not happen. In fact they say Latina is back in the picture with the upgrade of the Pontina to Motorway (something I think we remember reading 20 years ago). Has anyone near Viterbo (David and Linda?) heard any similar rumours?

Update on the airport in Viterbo is that Berlusconi was here last Thursday for the Procession of the Machinna Santa Rosa and he announced while here that it will happen!!!!!!

you should post some pic's (if you took any) ... of the macchina that is, not Silvio. I visited the museum earlier this year and saw scale models of some of the previous ones, very beautiful.

When I first read this post I emailed friends living in Sussex...they said there has always been Easyjet flights from Gatwick to Fiumicino, so I double checked the date of the post ..yes August this year. Are these flights new routes or not?
