Well frankdeuce as friends who live in Calabria come to Umbria to do there shopping for "Italian foods" YES...that's correct. I doubt you'll ever find HP sauce in Calabria but there are companies that will post it to you. If you want details PM me.

Try looking in Reggio Calabria. If you go to Piazza Carmine there's a small shop which sells a bit of everything from chinese noodles to indian spices. I buy my heinz baked beans from there at a whopping £1.50 a can!!!!!!! Mind you I only go there when I want to treat myself!

By the way, are baked beans this expensive all over Italy???

when i figure out how to get there from Pellaro i'll see if they have my fave "HP". I'm too knew here to know much about prices but from what i've seen so far i do know that things in Italy are usually many times the price of the same thing in the USA.Retailers here take advantage of the fact that Reggio is a deserted place with little to no options as far as selection & no competition between stores.I guess i'll just have to get used to it.

Hi
I think that only goes for imported stuff. local goods are lot cheaper

Italians traditionally eat only Italian food, so to buy imported is very expensive, perhaps you could make your own version of HP sauce?, I am still waiting for someone to give me their own home made recipe for baked beans!
I made pear and ginger chutney from the pears my neighbour gave me, but when I offered him a jar he stepped back in horror, explained it was for eating with cheese (as they use honey around here) or for cold meats, but he wasnt convinced.
