Thanks, We got a kitchen made by a tradesman in Volterra. The information was of great help as we got some furniture from Mondo Conv and Merceratone Uno. If you know of any property management companies in Tuscany or Volterra region please let me know

Were you happy with your kitchen? And, if so, may I be so bold as to ask who your tradesman was? We are building a house near Volterra and am looking to put a kitchen in and I haven't found anything I like on any of the kitchen company websites.
Thanks!

Dear Monte,
The kitchen shop is beside Eurospin on the Saline Di Volterra Road. The owners name is Stephano and he does not speak any English but is great and will sort you ouy. The prices are more expensive than Mercetore Uno etc but much better quality, we also bought our appliances from him. It is really a furniture shop with some kitchens and worktops.
If you do not know where it is let me know and I will give more detailed directions. I can get you the name of it if you need it.

Thank you very much for your quick response. I know exactly where it is and shall pop in when we are next over at the end of the month. I have only been looking at the internet so far (Snaidero etc) but I think you have to be a lottery winner to afford those type of kitchens!!
Regards
Fiona (Monte)

Boring and yes you may already know this but we made a mistake first time around so here goes...Make sure the work surfaces are built at English height and not Italian height. Italian units are lower and do your back in!!!

" ..... Italian units are lower and do your back in!!!"
Or you bump your head!!! lol

I thought that the height was related to the normal height of kitchen appliances..... We had to alter this to fit the height of a very low window in our kitchen, but then we had a custom made kitchen by a local tradesman....

We've raised the height of appliances as well, but pretty much on the cheap, without being able to go the total custom route -- in the case of the stove/range, added higher legs, in the case of the dishwasher, plopped another thick work surface on top of the existing one to bring it up to height for us. In a built-in kitchen we put all the appliances + pre-made cabinets up on a cribbing, which was nicely covered by a higher front kickplate where cabinet meets floor. My back kills me if the work surface is less than 36" high, I do a LOT of cooking/preserving, it makes a real difference! Also, had my son's (professional chef, 6'2") help to figure this out years ago, as part of his college project for on ergonomic kitchen design, now one of his little side businesses.
Have a look at Mondo Convenienza, there are shops in Prato and Siena, both near you. They deliver and install. Several styles available, modern, rustic, classic. They deliver and install and they are open 7 days a week with very good displays where you can choose before you buy. Certainly much cheaper than the 9000 euros you have been quoted!!!!
Have a look at:

Best wishes.
