10388 Any need for an English Vet

Hi ( first posting)
In the near to medium future we are considering moving to Le Marche and we are considering a few options.
My partner is a fully qualified vet, who could open her own practice, or maybe carry out locum work, we could open a small animal "hotel" for when you good people return to wet UK for your holidays.
We might run a small holding (both of us have expierence of farm work)
Any comments would be greatly appriciated.
kind regards

Welcome. If/when you do set up then you can register your English speaking business on Welcome to English Yellow Pages for Italy - your guide to English-speaking businesses and professionals They have a directory.

Also this is a notice board for Le Marche - Le Marche Notice Board and Guest book

Good luck with your plans, but Italy being Italy do not assume that it will be an easy or quick process to obtain the necessary recognition of your professional UK qualifications. Have a look at the following in a day or two (unfortunately the full pages are not currently available) which will give an indication re the bureaucracy involved - Ministero della Salute - Professioni sanitarie
(In Italy, vets come under the juristriction of the local health authority and the Ministero della Salute).

Don't wish to be the bearer of gloom and doom but a friend's husband who is an Italian trained vet has had a nightmare trying to get a job in a practice in Le Marche so has ended up doing numerous postgraduate courses. According to him it is too expensive for him to set up on his own and as the fees charged are much lower here than in the UK I guess it could be a long time before a profit is seen. Still, forewarned is forarmed and good luck!
