We have a policy to cover the hire car excess with insurance4carhire.com and in July my husband damaged the door mirror. When the charge came through on his visa card (136 euros) we looked at how to claim. Filled in the stuff online & then were asked for a big list of things (copy of driving licence, copy of rental agreement etc) - wondered if this was going to be one of those insurances where the conditions are so onerous that it just isn't worth claiming but we sent it all off anyway. Got a phone call today asking for further info as they couldn't read the scan but were told that it was a small amount so would be approved. Really nice guy was full of apologies about the hassle but said there are so many fraudulent claims that they have to check up. Policy was well worth the £79 we paid (and because we only need it when we are both traveling together (instead of what we had last year) the renewal (last week) was only £49)

Hi
Last time we went out to our house, we picked up our hire car, a sparkling peugot 208 with a mere 400kms on the clock. Less than an hour later at hour house my wife decided to open the door into the metal hold back thing for the shutters. Lukily with a bit of close parking at the airport we got away with it . But i did think what a lucky escape and have been meaning to take out some insurance since, so if anybody has got any recomendations it would be grately recieved
Thanks
