Thanks for posting this news, Noble - that is so sad. In our opinion, one of the best programmes of the series. We admired him so much for his perseverance, hard labour, endless patience (well, most of the time!) and sheer determination to see the project through and the castello sympathetically restored. It was a triumph - just wish we had a spare couple of million. Best by a lottery ticket...........

I am really sorry to hear that after all the determination and hard work that both of them put into their place that it should end so sadly. I hope that it was everything that they wished for and that for the short time that they had it fully finished and in all its glory it answered both their dreams.
I agree with Romano it was one of the best programmes of the show.
You may recall the couple who bought a ruined castle, not far from Arezzo. Howard and Janne and the pains that they took to restore it? When I spotted that it was for sale earlier in the year, I was astonished. I now know that Howard died and Janne ( his Scandinavian wife) has decided to return to England. The selling price is 1.9 million pounds and their restoration can be see at www.castelodibrancialino.com
This is very sad news; he was certainly a man with determination - he lived his dream to the end. A great example to be followed...
