10482 Proof of residency

We went through the necessary stages to obtain Residency and having received our bits of official paper - Certificate - form the Comune saying we were granted residency, we were told to take it to the local Azienda Sanitaria in Sarnano to register with the health service.
This we did. The people there took our residency papers and attached it to small form we filled in there and then, and they kept them both. In exchange we were given our Tessera Sanitaria.
Does anyone know that if asked to provide proof of residency for any particular service, our Tessera will be "accepted"? We do have the copies of the Allegato 2 with the marca da bollo on them that we received before they gave us the Certificate..

You can get another certificate of residency from the comune, if you need one, you pay for them and they issue them. We needed an extra copy when we bought our car.

As you can only have an ID card if you are resident it is usually the accepted proof. Return to your comune office and ask for one - there is a small fee and you will need to take some passport sized photos. Also, legally you are meant to carry a form of ID with you at all times, carrying an Italian ID card therfore means you do not have to constantly carry your passport around!

Hi there, just to say that we went as Anne2 advised to our commune in Penna San Giovanni yesterday and got our ID cards. We needed 3 passport photos (we only took 2!) and the cost was euro 5.16 each. It was pretty painless though it took us two hours (having had to return a casa for additional photo) but the segretaria is a very busy solo operator! Anyway thanks for the advice Anne2.

Pleased to hear it all worked out okay and was relatively painless!!

Pretty much as above except we were given a paper "libretto sanitaria" - does anyone know if this is instead of a tessera sanitario, or how we get it converted into a card?

The cardboard tessera is absolutely fine. You will probably receive a plastic one when they get round to it!
