Sorry Nielo- you will have to discount 1 vote for easyjet & add 1 to Ryanair- just had a very senior moment (I think it was wishful thinking on my part as really have no choice but to use Ryanair!)

This poll may not tell us the most popular airline with passengers of course and like most people I now fly to the most convenient airport. Mine is Perugia. Only Ryanair can fly me there from the UK. Most friends do prefer Easyjet but they stopped flying into Rome from some UK airports, so again no choice. Those we know with holiday houses far and away prefer British Airways...but they haven't retired yet so aren't watching their pennies! I did much the same for 5 years when commuting.

Hi
I much prefer Meridiana - Florence /Gatwick. Most tmes the prices are comparible to ryanair, it is a schedule airline, proper luggage allowances, pleasant staff, convenient timetable.
In fact, using it tomorrow, and price is/was better than ryaniar - Perugia or Pisa.

You are very well located for Florence airport Aretina but from us to that airport means horrible traffic conjestion and then because you get delayed, a speeding fine...that makes the price of the ticket increase by 160 euros! But agree much more comfy than Ryanair.

Hummmm ! It makes you wonder about British Airways!?

I have the choice of 3
1st Easyjet-Luton-Cagliari
2nd Ryanair-Stansted-Alghero
3rd BA -Gatwick-Cagliari
4th Meridiana via PCG-Cagliari

My current visitors used to fly RA - Stanstead to Bergamo. You know, the famous flying cattle truck! They sought an alternative when RA passengers were all allowed (?) to opt for 'priority' boarding and everyone became a 'priority passenger' - thus defeating the whol ethos of needing a little more time to board for certian reasons (i.e. disabled, little kids...).
They then switched to Birmingham - Bergamo and fly with BMI (British Midland) and have nothing but good to say about their service. 'Priority' is just that. Customer service is polite and helpful and they can reserve their seats!
Price is - if not quite the same - comparable in the long run with RA, and they are on their 3rd visit to me this year using BMI!

Why does BA with no votes get a little bar on the graph?? I thought nil means nothing.

So far 198 people have viewed this thread and only 34 have voted. It might be interesting if we knew more about those who didn't vote.
So far 198 people have viewed this thread and only 34 have voted. It might be interesting if we knew more about those who didn't vote.
2 reasons:
1) Webbots don't have views. They just trawl the internet.
2) Unregistered guests cannot express an opinion.

Well perhaps you needed more 'voices' on the poll Sally. Like "I drive over". "I don't go anywhere". The ultimate choice of "Other" could cover those, but wouldn't be indicative of people's situation.
Or just 'maybe' people don't see any point to taking the poll!
Just out of curiosity - what DO you plan to do with the results?

"Just out of curiosity - what DO you plan to do with the results?"
I assume you mean Nielo???

I have no intention to DO anything with the results of this poll and as I said in my original post, i am just interested to see the level of use Alitalia gets from members of the forum.
From the results so far it doesn't look as if too many people would be inconvenienced if it folds.

We use jet2.com from Manchester to Pisa, when we don't drive. It's great, allocated seats etc. We do sometimes use Ryanaire from Liverpool to Pisa when we have to!!
We always used BA from Manchester to Pisa until they scrapped the route, it was such a shame, we used to pay a lot more but it was worth every penny.

Don't forget Air One fly between the UK and Italy albeit at mighty expensive rates.

Why must we not forget? What is the relevance?
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Just that all the other airlines are mentioned and that this is one that people may not know of that flies between Italy and the UK. I'm told it's a good airline too.

We always travel with Ryanair. We always get very pleasant, cheerful staff but then maybe its because we treat them that way too!! :winki:

Ryanair to Rome since they pulled the Ancona flight. Those of us away from the south east have little choice. My dad tried to book Jet2 Manchester to Rome for Christmas but flight seems to have disappeared after end November - anyone know anything - is it that the next booking period hasn't opened or are they diverting flights so they can do the winter sports stuff?
Yes BA & the like provide a better service but at a price (just come back form Romania with work & paid £350 for return tickets from Manchester and we had 5 hours in T5). Also if it's only a couple of hours you can manage without the frills - we don't expect lots of freebies when we go on a train.
Drove in the summer and have booked ferry for Christmas.
