10516 gas prices and contracts

I believe you can if your contract with the company who installed the tank has expired.

no there is no fixed price for gas national or local you have to negotiate the price....
if you install your own gas tank you can put anyones's gas in it ..if you have a tank in accomodato d'uso ie, they put in the tank for you then you have to use theirs.
generally speaking there are not great differences between the prices of gas from different companies,it's the negotiation that makes the real difference + eventually the company itself (ie. you might feel more comfortable with a larger reputable company than a small show)we use TOTAL GAZ, they come from the refinery in aNCONA ,i don't call them they turn up, or at worst we call the driver on his cell phone and if he's in the area he comes asap. puts it in,i don't pay the postal pay thing but on the computer in around 35 days, currently despite increases we're paying Euro cents 59. x litre + vat.i don't think it's possible to get much better.

you have to negotiate! you tell them that you have found it cheaper elsewhere and if they cannot match the price you will move. I started off paying 110 cents per litre and am now paying 85 cents but I am sure I can find it cheaper

Here's our experience for what it's worth. We live 5 mins walk from the village. Originally there was no central gas supply but when a company installed a main tank to "feed" the villagers with gas, at the top of our track, (about 600 metres to our house) we decided to connect to the pipeline because during some winters a tanker could not get down to us due to ice.

We originally had an underground gas tank which was owned by the company who installed it (at our cost!) No other company may fill it and it had to be checked for safety every year. As we were no longer buying their gas the supplier wanted the tank back!!!!!!!!!!! We had to pay for it to be dug up but we refused to pay for it to be delivered to their depot. We were green when we had it installed and were never given a contract, it was sorted by the Geometra.

We paid for the gas pipeline to our house to be installed...(I don't wish to be reminded of the exhorbitant cost) again we were foolish and got nothing in writing. A young man from the village made all sorts of broken promises on behalf of the gas company...still dim 5 years on!!

Each year we try to make sense of how much we pay for a litre of gas but the way Vulcangas breakdown their bills it is next to impossible to work out. It is just A LOT OF MONEY....I agree one should negotiate the price but when there is but one supplier there is no choice but pay up. So to answer the original post...if you have a tank in the ground it will have to be dug up and replaced if you intend to change suppliers around here.

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"]The plumber who fitted our caldaia got Butangas to fit the tank for us. It cost €200 which was we were told the fee to the comune that Butangas had to pay. The tank and fitting cost nothing. They then put 250 litre of gas into the tank @ 31.3 cents per litre + iva
We of course soon had to have the tank filled and in February 2007 had 1300 litres of gas @73.3 cents + iva. However we were told that our comune gave a discount which was 8.27 cents per litre so we paid about 65 cents per litre + iva[/FONT]

How long did the 1300 litres last for? Also is this for heating, cooking and hot water?

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"]I am glad to say it is still lasting as we are only 'visitors' to Italy. After the new boiler and gas tank were fitted, we discovered major problems with the steel central heating pipes in the floors and walls so we had to replace all so until last November it was used only for hot water and cooking. Last winter it was for the heating as well (with the stufa in the kitchen). We were there for about 7/8 weeks during 'the heating season' We are hoping that it will last for a similar amount of time this winter as well - unless we have a much colder winter of course. We use the central heating as 'background only' once the house has warmed up otherwise I am sure we would have used the 1300 litres by now!![/FONT]

Q8 have made a push here in Le Marche - so whether you speak to them or not you can always use that as a counter. We now pay 10c less than we did per litre. My last fill of 1,000 litres from Pegas was 68c + IVA for immediate payment (cheque).
