Although I have never seen his TV programmes, I own all his books because in my opinion, every single one of his recipes work. He is clearly a perfectionist and very driven. The article shocked me and I thought the same as IRITALIA. I now hope that he will realise how many fans are rooting for his recovery.

Alas depression is often to be found in perfectionists or geniuses. I've been to a couple of his cafes in London. They are wonderful.

Stabbing himself in the chest with a kitchen knife was all very dramatic and very Italian but if he really meant it he knows which mushrooms to eat.
Sorry, I do hope he gets better and that he can shake off his depression and continue to wow the world with his wonderful recipes.

Hardly think he could "shake off" his depression...sounds like your talking about depression as if it were dandruff!

Depressing stuff - dandruff. I use a good clothes brush - always makes me feel better.

Hope he washed the knife after!!

You use a knife to clear your dandruff? :wideeyed:

Fans of Carluccio, Sicily and/or the Italian novelist Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa might be interested in this one-hour documentary that's been out on BBC Four a couple of times over the past few weeks. Interesting blend of factual documentary, biography and cookery show...

Those of a nervous disposition might want to avert their gaze during the bit where he eats intestines cooked by a street vendor in (I think) Palermo.
Happy viewing!

What a pity that it can't be seen outside the UK!

Alas, no - the iplayer is blocked for web users outside the UK on the basis that they aren't paying a licence fee so don't deserve all that wonderful content...
You can get round all that though. Take a look at this...

Once again one see's that fame, money and a jolly disposition can hide an unhappy, deeper termoil inside.
