10638 we need a name

Hi Guys
Like I said we have just collected one of the homeless puppies, and really want to thank Sully and co for all the help , we are just sorry that we could not have taken anymore.
But now we need more help....................Names .........here is a shortlist that we have made.

I had the same problem when I got my mutt... He ended up with the name Ciccio and he responds well to that. Though for some reason I also call him 'Dig' - don't know why... but when I say 'Hello Dig' he immediately want's a cuddle.

I thought about 'Defor' too, but as we are in Italy I was going to use (Sounds like....) Cheeper = C per cane... But Expats chose Ciccio for mine and so it has remained.

This has been a great story to follow - those little pups must really think 'they've found America' (as the Italians say) !

Any chance we can see some photos of your little feller? That would really be the icing on the cake!

i am so pleased to hear the little chap has a home. bless his little white tail and thank you for adopting him from karen and anthony. but there are five more to go. so please tell everyone you know as we are all working so hard on this.

What about Jess?

Just read The Times today and there is a quote from Alan Coren

"I have nothing against poetry. Were it not for poetry, Postman Pat would have had a black and white dog"

Congratulations on the addition (and I've voted for Defor)

Our cocker spaniel is called Sweep (after Sooty and Sweep)- even though she isn't black and white and she's a she?????

TGIF!!!

Hi.

I've voted for Bandit (i'd prefer BANDITO)

#1

Good on you for taking on the pup (Bandit was my vote), and to Sully for rescuing and taking care of the puppies

I hope black and white puppy is doing fine tonight. thank you for taking him! we have 19 days to find homes for five more! no one can bear the thought of the dog pound so please do send this link to everyone you know who loves animals. karen says their eyes are opening and today when I spoke to her i heard a little yelpy bark. I cannot tell you how adorable they are, so if you are smitten by this story do consider adopting one. i

I had nick named him Pan (short for panda) as he really does look like a little panda cub so that got my vote.
Thanks again for giving him a great home & don't forget to send us some pictures - it's nice to know that at least one of them is going to have good life.

Well under the circumstances I think a very appropriate name for one of the dogs would be Sully.

How about 'Wombat'?

Waste Of Money But Always Treasured

Nice thought, but thats the OH name :laughs:

I sincerely hope you manage to get good homes for the remaining 5 puppies, Sully. I picked "Bandit" as my choice from your short list D&R. May he give you many years of total adoration :-).

Actually I think the little sweetie looks like a guinea pig, such a darling, and I know Ricky doesnt agree but I think Panda is a good name.I do hope others will adopt, Sully and Karen have done a wonderful job keeping them all alive, Panda looks like a full time job for the next few weeks, may he thrive, actually I think his dad was a Marammana (spelling!) but dont tell R&D!
A

But we cant call HIM, panda, it would have to PANDO........:laughs::laughs:

Oh no no no - it is il panda if it's any gender of panda! (Maybe a female could be la panda, I dunno, all I know is that my gatto is un gatto femmina - only the vets accept la gatta!)

I strongly urge you to go for the name Panda - it comes fully virus protected (in Italian software speak!)

God, he is massive for his approximated age! Are you sure it's a dog and not a new species of bear?

That is beginning to worry us as well LOL...........but I stand over 6feet 7 , and if he gets that big I"m off ...................:eerr::eerr:

Lovely pic D&R, I had originally voted for Bandit as " the one that got away", but perhaps Panda would be more fitting after seeing the picture.
Anyway, well done for saving one of the poor things and lets hope that the others manage to find good homes, like yours, within the next few weeks.

Yep, to my mind definitely a Giant Panda!!!

Forgive me but I Googled this question
"How do you say Panda in Chinese?"
( I just wondered if it might help solve the name question):

The answer:
"Xiong mao, sounds like shawn mao ,and it means bear cat in Chinese, xiong(shawn) means a bear, and mao(mao) means a cat."
:nah:

So I guess 'that's' out the window... sounds too much like Shawn (the sheep).

:laughs:

I followed Caroles lead and Googled - with a slight twist.

パンダ is Panda in Japanese - so I reckon you should call him Prince. (think about it.)

I Googled what is panda in Italian and I got Fiat….now that’s a good name:laughs:

Now that IS funny...... even my mutt fell about laughing!

Oh how I wish I could manage one of those puppies - *sigh*!
I Googled what is panda in Italian and I got Fiat….now that’s a good name:laughs:
So obvious, but it did make me chuckle!
But actually, FIAT is probably a far more apt name as did they not used to say it stood for 'Fix It Again Tony' - in one of HelenHelen's posts she let slip that Sully is really an Anthony - if he uses Tony for short I am sure the puppies would all be begging him to 'Fix It Again Tony' when it comes to filling their little, or not so little bellies!

Looks like a cross between a giant panda and a St Bernard. Perhaps you should get him a barrel when he gets a little bigger. I went with Panda but an alternative may be 'Bernardo'.

Hey CaroleB..........I have the number for Holmes and Watson, if you need it...........Im sure he/she is cute
