Building finished, anyone need a caravan?

We've just joined and wondered if anyone needs a caravan for use while building, or as a useful spare room?  It is sitting in the field behind our house in Lunigiana but needs a new home now.  We lived in it whenever we were in Italy over a three year build, winters and summers, rain and shine.  It is a Dethleffs caravan, 1986 and belonged to a Swiss family who holidayed with it every year (stickers on the door tell the story).  It's in good condition for its age, dry, clean and cosy and definitely habitable for one or two people.  The dining table and seating convert to a double bed; there's a single bed, wardrobe, lots of little cabinets around the ceiling, a kitchen sink with two gas burners and a gas heater - both gas items would need checking.  The fridge works on mains electricity or gas and the lights work off mains or 12v.  A chemical loo, new and barely used, and wash basin in a little room; also other storage.  Windows have blinds plus nets and curtains, and all fabrics and seat covers have been washed.   The tyres were new in 2006 and since then have only travelled from Lugano where we bought it.  The brakes work fine and the caravan would tow to wherever you wanted but probably not suitable for repeated hauling about the countryside.  Offers around €750 - sorry we can't deliver as we don't have a tow hook anymore.

Wherabouts in Lunigiana are you? Also, what is the length of the caravan?  We have just about finished our build but just might be interested - although I haven't asked Mr Fabbriche yet! Did you self build - or were you checking progress?   Regards   Fabbriche

Hi Fabbriche, Sorry, I hadn't noticed your first comment.  We're 15 mins from Aulla, I hour north of Pisa.  The caravan itself is 4.7m long plus the towbar - about 1.5m. (am guessing that bit). We originally planned to self-build but things changed and while we were widening the access track got recommended a good local builder, so we were then just checking progress and keeping it on course. HI Chris, It was bought near Lugano, Switzerland with no documents, targa  or registration.  We didn't know anything about those things just towed the caravan to our place without any problems.  It still has our UK car reg plate on it which would have to be changed I suppose.  It really needs to make one journey not too far and stay put.  The tow hook is a cup shaped thing that drops down on the towbar and is clamped shut, as I remember.  I don't know how an italian tow hook would differ. Thanks for your interest Apicoltrice
