10677 Thread closure; sort it, eh?

I've done nothing on this issue, but agree with the position that the closure of the thread was premature ("pruning" would have been more appropriate) and that whatever the decision, we should answer the queries currently being posted.

I'd like to propose that:
- If you plan to keep the thread closed, please explain why.
- If it was closed prematurely & on reflection it should not have been closed, then let's apologies , re-open it & move on.

I plan to re-open the thread this afternoon & post *my* take on the matter........but anticipate that this won't be necessary as one of you will have already have acted.

It's the first time we interact, so nice to meet you Tuscanhills.. or David..
I'm giving explanations for my decision. I hope all members forum will accept them. I simply didn't like the way they was carrying on the thread. Did you have a look to Nardini comments and to the ones of other people that instead of answering to the questions made by Paul Newman, made fun of him? Some other wrote useful posts and I will point it out, saying also that what had to be said about the topic, had already been said. The lasts posts are unpleasant and useless. Don't you think? Ok, I should have done some explanations before closing it. I'm conscientious about the fact that I provoked misunderstandings among them and that know they don't like my behavior. I'll give today explanations, I didn't do it before because as Sally supposed, I work part time with the forum.
Any other advice will be accepted.

Thanks for this; we all work part-time on the forum(!) but many people spend an unhelthy amount of time on it, and half a day is a *long* time on the forum.

I'd propose that in future, if you see a post like PN's, then it's best to just EDIT that one element, a lot of the other stuff on the thread was useful and (mostly) constructive. Closing the thread looks as if you're painting everyone else who contributed to the thread "black" when it was only PN's comment that was insulting.

It would be good for you to conclude this today.........thanks :0)

As an aside, when a new member (I'm still not convinced that PN *is* new....maybe an existing member making trouble?) like Paul posts something like this, I'd normally edit it out & private message him/her to advise them that they should consider their approach. It's a safer & less public way of moderating someone's 'high spirits'.

I'm thankful for your suggestions.
I considered PN's messages as a reaction to aggressive posts, maybe wrongly.
I know I should have moderate all them in another way.
Maybe you have reason about the fact that he was not a new member, as Nardini, also, called him a "sockpuppet" - unknown term to me..
I lack of experience of this forum, it is evident but I trust in me, I will improve of course.

ps: I re-opened the thread.

I don't know a week in London and I have missed all the fun.
